WHAT THE FUCK

August 25, 2008

I know, I'm a terrible comicker. As a comic artist, I have just ONE JOB: make the comic and update it on time. And I'm not particularly good at that.

But, as Josh Grabiec, I have innumerable jobs: screenprinter, daddy, husband, cat caretaker, mover, lawnmower... lots of stuff going on. And, I've just added another to that list: shirt designer.

"But Josh!" you exclaim, "Isn't that part of being a screenprinter?" "Yes," I would say, "But now I've got another opportunity. If you've been paying attention to my vaguely worded Facebook updates, you would know that I am creating my own clothing line in addition to my other duties." "Wow! Good luck with that," I imagine you say, and I say, "Thanks," in response. "I guess you don't have a whole lot of time to give Team Pocket now that you're researching and creating things to sell, y'know, for money. Whereas you didn't really get any when you were drawing Team Pocket in your spare time."

"Yeah," I say, a bit sadly. "But I'm not planning on completely abandoning it. It's something I do like to do and I do want to tell the story of Sir Small and The Incredible Corndog. But, in the long run, if I make millions of dollars selling t-shirts, then I'll have a lot of free time in the future to make more comics." And what would you say about that?

Yes, that's right. You'd say, "RIGHT ON."

August 08, 2008

Slightly large update today. Oh, what trouble could Team Pocket possibly get into after this?

August 01, 2008

Oh god, Josh, pick a fucking style.

Hand-lettered comics look so much better than text added in electronically. Except I don't think you can really consider this hand-lettering because I wrote all the text. Which is completely different from hand-lettering and much, much more lazy: think of it as drawing all of the words. Yeah, I didn't bother.

July 25th, 2008

Team Pocket is back in action! Except the action isn't here yet. Stay put, lads and lassies. Snake in the Corndog's Shadow is just beginning!

July 11, 2008

Team Pocket's vacation ends today, as the first real vacation I've taken in several years begins this afternoon.

June 10, 2008

I won't swear I'm not lazy, but I will swear that I am busy. And, I'll also throw in a swear about being lazy in the past and one about how I'm really trying. It's been pretty amazing to me that I've managed to create an entire issue of Team Pocket comics at this point, simply because I'd gone quite a long time without bothering to create anything. I'll also swear that my home computer is broken and won't be up and running for a week or two. :(

So, I'm sorry about the delay. It's not just the computer, but it's also my method of making comics. I'm very freeform, kinda stream of conciousness. I don't work off of a script but instead a story idea in my mind. With the level of art quality I'm expecting out of myself, it takes a bit longer to make art... even longer when I decide what I've got isn't up to snuff and I've got to redo some things. But what I've done is still salvageable, so it won't be too long before I get the first installment of Issue One up. And, I've got a script now, so things are going to go a bit more smoothly. Thanks for reading.

Eh, so no update today. Snake In The Corndog's Shadow will arrive someday.

May 20, 2008

Welcome to Issue One: Snake In the Corndog's Shadow!

May 15, 2008

Wow! An update a day early, and the end of Issue Zero to boot! I feel like a decent comicker today! Firstly, to everyone who has been with me from the very first update when we were on freaking LiveJournal, thank you! Secondly, for those of you who are wandering in now, thank you as well. Deciding to leap into the world of Team Pocket again has been very good for me and I'm glad you could be there with me, whether you think the comic is shit or not. You read it anyway and increased my view count and boosted my self esteem by a little bit, so that was cool.

So! Issue One begins next week! Next Wednesday will unveil the cover art for said issue. By the way, the cover for Issue Zero is up. Just hit the FIRST button, and then hit NEXT. Did you know that this issue was called "The 36th Chamber of Team Pocket?"

Now you do.

Josh

May 12, 2008

Okay, so nothing happened last Friday. Last week was nuts, and this past weekend was nuts as well (not to mention Mother's Day.) Update this Friday will be larger than normal and, bonus! It's the end of the first exciting Issue Zero of Team Pocket! I'm sure you're terribly excited.

May 2, 2008

Last page of this update will be modified and improved over the weekend. I'm not happy with it, but damn it, I'm happy enough with it to show it.

April 25, 2008

What? An update, on time? And with a new art style nonetheless? Just what the hell is going on here?

Well, I decided I liked a more hand-drawn look. This art feels and is much more rough, looks more like there was a pencil involved in it's creation. I stopped worrying so much about clean linework and I think the effect looks really great, looks like it fits much better with the feel of the comic. I hope you like it.

April 20, 2008

Finally. It's up. Holy crap. I hope you enjoy it. Try reading the comic one side at a time.

April 15, 2008

Okay, so I'm a liar. And I'm terrible. Nothing happened last week. Things don't seem to be off to a particularly good start, hmmm. Well, I would like to assure you that production on the comic is moving forward, if slowly. I never pretended that this was anything more than a hobby, and things like work, kids, wives, houses, and bills get in the way of things most of the time.

But, I will have something this Friday. I guarantee it!

April 4, 2008

So! How about no comics, but a better site for an update! I know I told a few of you there'd be a double update, but things have been busy and I just can't do it today. Therefore, time for an extra-content update! Here's a newsbox for you guys. It'll keep all of my news posts in a handy little area here at the bottom of the comic. I'm planning to have all of the daily blurbs still stuck to the bottom of the comic when they hit the archives. I'm sure it seems very quaint to all of you who bother looking at code, what with the simple HTML and all, but hey. Fuck you. Also, Character and About pages are now up and running! I hope to get an early update sometime next week to make up for the lack of comic content today.

March 28, 2008

Well well well. Looks like things are going quite swimmingly now! We've got some updates that are going on schedule, the design of the site is coming together nicely (if a bit slowly,) and after this update we're going to really start seeing things heat up, both in the comic and extra-contentwise! Once I get some completed issues up and feel more comfortable with a real quality product, then I'll start implementing more features and begin advertising.

March 19, 2008

Hey-o, a slightly early update so that I can start getting used to this automated comic delivery system. I'm still working out the kinks, which is why, right now, I really hope you're not bothering to read this.

March 14, 2008

Well, guess what we have here. That's right, an actual website, not me trying to hack up a free LiveJournal account into some kind of comic-delivery system. I'm not exactly new to HTML, but what I knew back when I knew it wouldn't fill an entire Angelfire's site worth of content and it certainly won't cut it today. CSS? PHP? I'm quite at a loss. Either way, this is still somewhat of an experiment, but as long as I don't stray too far from Comic Genesis' deceptively simple-looking tag system, I think I'll be okay. I'm not looking for a super fancy webpage anyway. Just passably cool. So, I hate to feel that I've cheated you out of an update, but at least something's gotten better. Your reading experience may just be enhanced!
